Areas of Practice

Attorney Jensen concentrates his practice in the following areas:

Federal Court:  Approximately one-third of Attorney Jensen's practice is devoted to defending cases in federal court.   This includes appearing in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, and also in the United States Court of Appeals (7th Cir.) in Chicago.   An attorney in good standing with any federal court may be allowed to appear in any other federal court with permission of the judge.    Many of the cases in federal court are large, multi-defendant drug cases.   Jensen has defended in excess of twenty-five of these types of cases, and several of them have proceeded to jury trial.   Jensen is also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.

Criminal appeals.  A large part of Jensen's practice is devoted to criminal appeals.  Jensen has handled in excess of one hundred criminal appeals, and many of the decisions from the appellate courts are published.   Jensen also represents persons in post-appeal proceedings such as habeas corpus petitions in federal court, and in Sec. 974.06, Stats. motions in state court.

Domestic violence.  Most domestic abuse cases are charged as misdemeanor criminal cases. However, if you are charged with domestic abuse, it is critical that you be represented by a criminal defense lawyer.  Family violence is treated very severely by the laws in Wisconsin.   When the police are called, and there is a report of family violence, someone will be arrested.   The consequences for a conviction are severe because it could mean probation, jail, and even the loss of the right to possess a firearm.  Additionally, family violence frequently leads to restraining orders and divorce.
